Effective Date: September 26, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how MISC Apps ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with your use of the WiFi Heatmap mobile application (the "App").
Your privacy is important to us. The WiFi Heatmap application is designed to be a private utility. All of the core heatmap data generated by the App is stored exclusively on your device and is not collected or transmitted to us or any third party, with the exception of data used for advertising purposes as detailed below.
1. Information We Collect
The App collects the following types of information to provide its core functionality:
- Precise Location Data: The App collects your precise geographic location (latitude and longitude) while it is actively being used. This is essential for the primary function of the App, which is to map Wi-Fi signal strength at specific locations. Location data is only processed on your device.
- Wi-Fi Information: The App collects the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) of your current Wi-Fi connection. The App does not collect or store your Wi-Fi network name (SSID), password, or other personal network identifiers.
- Third-Party Advertising Data: The App uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. Google may collect and use data to provide personalized advertising. For more information on how Google collects and uses your data, please review Google's Privacy & Terms.
2. How We Use Your Information
The information collected is used for the following purposes:
- To Generate Heatmaps: The App's primary function is to correlate your precise location data with your current Wi-Fi signal strength (RSSI) to create a visual heatmap on a map interface. This allows you to see the strength of your Wi-Fi signal in different areas.
- To Save and Manage Sessions: You can choose to save your heatmap data as a "session" for later review. This saved session data, which includes the collected location points and associated signal strengths, is stored only on your device in the App's private storage. When you save a session, the App also saves a screenshot image of the map to your device's public "Pictures" directory and a smaller thumbnail to the App's private storage.
- To Provide and Improve the App: We use the understanding of how the app is used to make improvements. User settings, such as map preferences and the last-viewed camera position, are saved on the device to improve your experience.
- To Display Advertisements: Data may be used by Google AdMob to serve relevant ads within the App.
3. Data Storage and Sharing
- Local On-Device Storage: All of your heatmap data (location points and Wi-Fi signal strength) and session history are stored exclusively on your own device. This data is not transmitted, uploaded, or shared with us or any external servers.
- Sharing with Third Parties: We do not share your location or Wi-Fi data with any third parties, except as required for the functionality of integrated third-party services, such as Google AdMob.
4. Permissions Required
The App requests the following permission to function correctly:
- ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION: This permission is required to access your precise geographic location, which is necessary for the core functionality of creating a location-based heatmap of Wi-Fi signal strength.
5. Your Choices and Controls
You have control over your data in the following ways:
- Clearing Data: You can clear all collected heatmap points from the main screen at any time using the "Clear Heatmap" function.
- Deleting Sessions: You can delete any saved session, including its associated data and thumbnail, from the "History" screen.
- Managing Screenshots: You can manage or delete the screenshot images saved by the App using your device's gallery or file manager application.
- Device Permissions: You can grant or revoke location permissions for the App at any time through your device's system settings. Please note that revoking location permission will prevent the App from functioning as intended.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
